Ye Songsheng's Personal Profile
Comrade Ye Songsheng is an Indonesian returned overseas Chinese, originally from Meixian District, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. 1937 returned to China to study, 1938 joined Yan 'an Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, and joined China in the same year. He has served as director, section chief, director, deputy political commissar, regiment political commissar, division director, political commissar, deputy director, director and deputy political commissar of the Air Force Political Department of the military region, and was awarded the rank of Major General by 1964. He is a deputy to the 12th National Congress of China and a member of the 6th China People's Political Consultative Conference.

During his stay in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he took part in a series of battles, led the troops to take the lead, went forward bravely, and accomplished the task well.

During the War of Liberation, he led his troops to participate in the battles of Lianshui, Laiwu, Meng Lianggu, Huaihai and Dujiang, and made positive contributions to the liberation of the motherland.

After the founding of New China, he creatively carried out political work and devoted a lot of efforts to the ideological and work style construction of the army.

Comrade Ye Songsheng is frank, aboveboard and upright. Honest and clean, simple life, strict with self-discipline; Contact the masses and unite with comrades; Stand firm on major political principles and take a clear-cut stand. During the ten years of turmoil, he fought resolutely with Lin Biao and Jiang Qing's counter-revolutionary clique. He firmly supported the line, principles and policies of the Party since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, and maintained a high degree of consistency with the CPC Central Committee in ideology, politics and action.

His life was a life of hard struggle for the liberation of the motherland and the construction of the people's army.

Comrade Ye Songsheng died of illness in Beijing on July 22nd, 1993 at the age of 76.
