What is a CCD camera?
CCD (Charge Coupled Device) camera is a kind of camera which uses CCD chip to convert optical signals into electrical signals. CCD camera is a very common industrial camera. It uses CCD chip as photoelectric converter to convert optical signals into electrical signals, and then generates images through analog or digital processing.

The working principle of CCD camera is: when the light shines on the CCD chip, photons will excite the photosensitive point in the CCD chip, convert the light signal into a charge signal and transmit it in the CCD chip. Then, the charge signal is converted into a voltage signal by sampling and conversion through the pixel array on the CCD chip. After further analog or digital processing, the image is finally obtained.

CCD camera has the following advantages:

1. High sensitivity: The photosensitive unit of CCD camera can accumulate light signals, so that it can shoot clear images in dark environment.

2. Good image quality: CCD camera can provide lower image noise, higher dynamic range and better color reproduction ability, thus obtaining more realistic and delicate images.

3. Low image distortion: Because the pixel array structure of CCD camera is stable and the pixel spacing is small, the image distortion is low.

4. Suitable for static and slow scenes: CCD camera is very effective in shooting static or slow scenes and can provide clear image details.

But CCD camera also has some disadvantages, such as high cost and high power consumption. With the continuous development of technology, CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) camera has gradually replaced CCD camera in some application fields, but CCD camera still has advantages in some specific application fields.
