Wen Xin Diao Long is a literary theory work by Liu Xie, a literary theorist in the Southern Dynasties. Written in 50 1 ~ 502 (two years in southern dynasties).

Based on Confucius' aesthetic thought and Taoist thought, this paper comprehensively summarizes the aesthetic achievements before Qi and Liang Dynasties, and makes a detailed exploration and discussion on the aesthetic essence of language and literature and the aesthetic law of creative appreciation.

The extended material "Wen Xin Diao Long" is a theoretical masterpiece of "big and thoughtful" and "profound in arts and sciences". The book is divided into 50 articles, which are rich in content and excellent in viewpoints, all of which are "the meaning of writing", and comprehensively and systematically discuss various problems in writing.

What is especially rare is that there are many comments on applied writing. According to rough statistics, there are 59 styles mentioned in the book, 44 of which belong to the category of practical writing, accounting for three quarters of the total number of styles.

Although Wen Xin Diao Long has inevitable historical limitations, especially Confucianism, such as Jing Zong and Zheng Sheng, has had many negative influences on its literary theory.
