There are not only satellite relay stations but also oil depots near Haizishan. Once the fire spreads here, the consequences are unimaginable. The whole county is out to take part in the fire fighting.

Before he could say goodbye to his mother in the hospital bed, Lai Ning and several classmates followed the vast crowd to the scene of the fire and participated in the fire fighting.

After arriving at the scene of the fire, Lai Ning and his classmates began to put out the fire. Although they are still young, they can at least do something. However, it was windy and the fire was high that day. The rescue site is very dangerous. When it was getting dark, the fire was still out of control. But in order to participate in the fire fighting, Lai Ning and several classmates sneaked back. Lai Ning, who was only 15 years old, died in the fire fighting. When Lai Ning's body was found, he was still fighting a fire with a small pine tree in his arms.

Lai Ning was also named a martyr and awarded the honorary title of "Hero Boy". The youngest fire-fighting boy became a role model for students all over the country in those years. Articles about Lai Ning's deeds appeared in textbooks, and Lai Ning's heroic propaganda was also carried out in schools.

However, since the beginning of this century, Lai Ning's deeds have gradually withdrawn from the campus and no longer been publicized. Why? Because it caused a lot of controversy.
