The vicissitudes of half a century, from generation to generation for 60 years. After several generations of painstaking efforts, the school has been built into a multi-disciplinary university focusing on engineering, science, literature, economics, management, law and teaching, with a complete undergraduate, master and doctoral training system and distinctive features. The school was awarded the title of "Advanced College in Party Building and Ideological and Political Work" by the Party Group of the Central Organization Department, Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Education, and was successively awarded the titles of "Advanced Collective in Education Work", "Excellent Unit in Ideological and Political Work", "Advanced Unit in Spiritual Civilization", "Advanced Unit in Student Work in Colleges and Universities", "Advanced Unit in Talent Work" and "Advanced Collective in National Unity and Progress" by the autonomous region.
The school implements a two-level management system. At present, there are Information Engineering College, Civil Engineering College, Architecture College, Management College, Chemical Engineering College, Mechanical College, Light Industry Textile College, Materials Science and Engineering College, Energy and Power Engineering College, Foreign Languages College, Science College, Marxism College, Humanities College, Electric Power College, International Business School, Mining College, Graduate School, Engineering and Technology College, Continuing Education College, International Education College (International Exchange Center), Sports Department and so on. The school has 85 laboratories and 49 research institutes.
At present, the school has 62 undergraduate majors, 4 authorized doctoral programs in two disciplines, 6 authorized first-class disciplines, 49 authorized programs in two disciplines, and 13 authorized fields of master of engineering. Have the right to grant university teachers the right to study for master's degrees and MBA degrees, and employees can apply for master's degrees with the same academic ability as graduate students, and recommend outstanding undergraduates to study for master's degrees without examination.
The school has a complete range of disciplines, including engineering, science, literature, economy, management, law and education. At present, the Ministry of Education has three specialty construction sites, namely, thermal energy and power engineering, chemical engineering and technology and electrical engineering and its automation, chemical technology, material processing engineering, solid mechanics, mechanical manufacturing and its automation, thermal energy engineering, material science, industrial catalysis, architectural design and theory, and enterprise management. There are metal material engineering, material forming and control engineering, electrical engineering and automation, inorganic non-metallic material engineering, chemical engineering and technology, mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, architecture, civil engineering, building environment and equipment engineering, thermal energy and power engineering, automation, business management and so on.
The school attaches great importance to strengthening the construction of teachers. At present, there are full-time teachers 1354, including 34 doctoral supervisors and 364 master supervisors, and 62.6% of the teachers have obtained doctoral and master degrees. Among the teachers, 52 were awarded the title of "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions" by the state and the autonomous region or enjoyed the special government allowance of the State Council, and 55 were selected as "New Century 32 1 Talent Project" in the autonomous region. The school also hired a group of well-known scholars at home and abroad, including academicians of China Academy of Engineering, as part-time professors in our school.
The school attaches great importance to the quality of teaching and the level of personnel training. Won "excellent" in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education in 2006. 34 courses were rated as top-quality courses at the autonomous region level. At present, there are more than 24,000 full-time students, in addition to more than 30 international students from six countries including Mongolia. In the course of nearly 60 years' development, more than 70,000 students have left here to struggle on all fronts of the motherland. Many of them have become leaders of universities, large and medium-sized enterprises, academic and technical backbones and important leaders of the party and government. They won honor for their alma mater with their outstanding achievements and contributions. School employment rate has always been in the forefront of colleges and universities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Schools actively adapt to the strategic needs of economic and social development in ethnic minority areas, rely on the superior resources and industries of the autonomous region, strengthen long-term cooperation with large and medium-sized enterprises, and adhere to the development path of combining "Industry-University-Research". Many projects have been included in various national scientific research plans, and a large number of scientific and technological achievements have won national and autonomous region science and technology awards. The Key Laboratory of Wind Energy and Solar Energy Utilization Technology was approved by the Ministry of Education as the "Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education". At present, it has six key laboratories in the autonomous region, including industrial catalysis, renewable energy, light metal materials, electromechanical control, material forming and control engineering, and green building evaluation (cultivation base), Inner Mongolia new energy productivity promotion center and manufacturing information productivity promotion center. Inner Mongolia New Material Engineering Technology Research Center, Inner Mongolia Internal Combustion Engine Alternative Fuel Engineering Technology Research Center, Autonomous Region New Energy Experimental Demonstration Base, Inner Mongolia Manufacturing Resource Planning and Application Research Center, Inner Mongolia University Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base-Management Modernization Research Center and Renewable Energy Engineering Research Center (Cultivation Base) are also located in our school. Since the Tenth Five-Year Plan, it has undertaken 205 national scientific and technological projects, won 52 scientific and technological awards above the autonomous region, and undertaken a large number of horizontal scientific research projects, which has made important contributions to promoting the economic construction and social development of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, especially the construction of new industrialization.
The conditions for running schools have been continuously improved and the facilities are complete. The national foreign language proficiency test center in Hohhot and the national computer rank test center in Inner Mongolia are located in our school, which is one of the first batch of 32 national college students' cultural quality education bases approved by the Ministry of Education. From 65438 to 0997, the school was connected to China Education and Research Computer Network. The campus network technology is advanced and runs well, covering teaching, office and living quarters. The school library is one of the collection centers of engineering and technical books and documents in the autonomous region, and it is the first first-class academic periodical and document retrieval station in China. Journal of Inner Mongolia University of Technology (Natural Science Edition) is the core periodical of science and technology in China.
The school is open-minded and eclectic, and actively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation. With Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Beijing University of Technology, East China University of Science and Technology and other brother universities, with the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Poland, Japan, Russia, Australia, Mongolia and other countries to establish long-term inter-school cooperative relations, in student training, teacher training, academic exchanges, teaching reform, scientific research cooperation and other aspects of fruitful cooperation. In 2003, the school became the only university in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to implement the "1-2- 1 China-US talent training plan" project. In 2005, it was granted the qualification to enroll Mongolian students in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Scholarship Program, and in 2007, it became the enrollment unit of the China Government Scholarship Program of the Ministry of Education.
