This site used to be Taizhou Station, but later it was renamed Taizhou West Station. Taizhou West Railway Station was renamed because the newly-built Hangzhou-Shaotai high-speed railway line and stations along it need to be named. In order to avoid confusion with the newly-built Taizhou Station, the original Taizhou Station was renamed Taizhou West Station.
This renaming can better distinguish the two sites, facilitate passengers' travel and improve the city's awareness. Taizhou West Railway Station consists of east and west stations, of which the west station is the old station building of Taizhou Station and the east station building is the new station building of Jintaichang of Taizhou West Railway Station. This name change is to meet the needs of the planning and development of new railway lines.
