In the same year, the provincial government agreed to build Heilongjiang Forestry Teachers College in Yichun. 1in March, 1985, the General Administration of Forestry Industry of the Province entrusted Yichun Forestry Administration to be responsible for the establishment of the Provincial Forestry Teachers College. In April of the same year, the preparatory office was established. During this period, due to the macro-control of the national economy, colleges and universities joined forces to take the road of connotation development, and no new schools were approved. In order to give full play to the existing school-running conditions and cultivate talents needed by Heilongjiang Province and Yichun City as soon as possible, with the consent of the Provincial Forestry Industry General Administration, the Provincial Education Commission and the State Education Commission, and with the approval of the provincial government, Yichun Branch of Heilongjiang University temporarily enrolled students as a school 1993 when the school cannot be listed separately.

August 7th 1993 Comrade Zhou Tienong, Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Province, Comrade Sun Kejian, Deputy Secretary General of the provincial government, and Comrade Xu, President of Heilongjiang University inspected the school. Vice Governor Zhou Tienong presided over the on-site office meeting, and made important instructions and resolutions on enrollment, running schools independently and equipping leading bodies of Yichun Branch of Heilongjiang University. It is pointed out that the school should be a comprehensive higher vocational school combining industry, forestry, trade and teachers with local characteristics, with the aim of closely serving local economic construction and social development.

1In July, 1999, the Ministry of Education approved the merger of Yichun Branch of Heilongjiang University and Yichun Normal School, and established Yichun Vocational College, which is a comprehensive general institution of higher learning that is compatible with forestry, literature, science, finance, law, art and teachers. At the same time, the school card of Yichun Branch of Heilongjiang University is retained to recruit undergraduates.

In June 2000, Yichun Branch of Heilongjiang University merged with Yichun Normal School.

In September 2000, Yichun Vocational College held the opening ceremony.

In September, 20001year, the college enrolled both undergraduate students from Heilongjiang University Yichun Branch and higher vocational and normal students from Yichun Vocational College.
