Family name: Rosaceae, Rosaceae
Protection grade: Ⅲ
Status: Endangered species. It only remains in a narrow area, with few plants, mostly isolated trees, poor natural regeneration ability and signs of gradual decline.
Protection measures: It has been designated as national scenic spots and nature reserves, which should be clearly listed as protection objects and strengthened management.
Deciduous trees, up to 10 m; Branchlets are stout, lenticellate and brown pilose when they are young, and gradually fall off when they are old until they are glabrous. The leaves are odd pinnate compound leaves; 5-6 pairs of lobules (4-), oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 4-6.5 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide, with tapering apex and unequal sides at the base, thick and sharp serrations near the base, hairless at the top, brown fur along the midvein below, and nearly hairless when old; Leaf rachis brown pilose when young, falling off when old; Stipules are herbaceous, semicircular, thick serrate, and fall off after flowering. Compound cymes are terminal, 8-10cm long and12-15cm wide. Total pedicels and pedicels are densely brown pilose, and gradually fall off in fruit until they are nearly glabrous. Flower diameter 7-8 mm, pedicel length 1-3 mm; Flowers glabrous or subglabrous outside, calyx tube bell-shaped, equilateral triangle; Petals broadly ovate or suborbicular, white, 3-4 mm long; Stamens ca. 20, shorter than petals; Styles 3-4, densely pilose at base, almost as long as stamens. It is mainly born in the evergreen deciduous broad-leaved mixed forest in the mid-subtropical mountainous area, which constitutes the middle and lower layer of the tree layer, and is more common in the sunny place at the forest edge or canopy gap. It is cloudy and humid, with cool climate in summer and severe cold in winter. The annual average temperature is 7.7- 10℃ and the annual precipitation is 1500-2000mm. The soil is yellow brown soil with a pH value of 4.5-5.5. The main associated plants are Pinus taiwanensis, Quercus taiwanensis, Rhododendron taiwanensis, Liudaomu in the south and Crataegus pinnatifida in central China. Sometimes they grow in isolation between broom and bamboo.
