1960 graduated from the institute of elemental organic compounds of the Soviet academy of sciences, with an associate doctor.

1980 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences.

1985 was elected as an academician of the Third World Academy of Sciences and a researcher at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the early 1960s, a number of organic crystal structures were determined, and the first computer program library for crystal structure analysis in China was established together with the cooperative units.

In the late 1960s, he participated in the determination of the crystal structure of porcine insulin as one of the responsible persons.

Since 1980, he has presided over the research group on the three-dimensional structure and function of insulin. The research results of this group, such as the structural modification of 1.2 angstrom insulin and the structural determination of 1.5 angstrom B-terminal carboxyl pentapeptide insulin, have reached the international advanced level. The three-dimensional structure of insulin and its derivatives was determined successively, with a total of 18. Some valuable opinions were put forward on the three-dimensional structure characteristics, molecular movement characteristics and the binding mechanism between insulin and its receptor.

1993 began to study the three-dimensional structure and function of the light-harvesting protein of tissue algae, and the structure of R- phycoerythrin of Polysiphum was studied by the method of multiple pairs of isomorphic substitution, and an accurate structural model with the resolution of 1.9 angstrom was obtained. Important progress has also been made in the study of three-dimensional structure of phycocyanin and phycocyanin. The research results were awarded the second prize and the first prize 1986 and 1987 of China Academy of Sciences, the second prize of National Natural Science twice (1982 and 1989) and the first prize of Wang Danping Science 1992 respectively.

Published more than 0/00 academic papers/KLOC, and published the monograph "Fundamentals of X-ray Crystallography".
