Brief introduction of Li Zhongyue
1906 (thirty-two years of Guangxu) In the winter, Qiu Jin and Xu Xilin, leaders of the Guangfu Association, gathered in Shanghai to discuss the uprising to overthrow the Manchu regime in Zhejiang and Anhui. It was agreed that Qiu Jin would be responsible for organizing the Zhejiang Uprising and Xu Xilin would be responsible for launching the Anhui Uprising. 1907 (thirty-three years of Guangxu) In the first month, Qiu Jin returned from Shanghai to his hometown of Shanyin County, Zhejiang Province, where he served as the supervisor of Datong School and presided over the school affairs. Datong School, originally founded by Xu Xilin and Tao, was a revolutionary stronghold for the Guangfu Association to train cadres and organize the masses. After Qiu Jin went to Datong School, in order to accumulate revolutionary forces, he founded the "Sports Meeting", recruited Communist party member and revolutionary youth, conducted military training and trained military talents. At the same time, actively contact communist party in Zhejiang, organize the "Recovery Army", and elect Xu Xilin as the leader, who will personally lead it. It is planned to hold activities in Zhejiang and Anhui at the same time on the tenth day of the sixth lunar month. Unexpectedly, things leaked out, so Xu Xilin had to start an uprising in Anqing on July 6, 1907 (May 26, Guangxu 33), and was suppressed immediately, and Xu Xilin was brutally killed. Zhejiang Governor Zhang Zengyang (nephew and great-grandson of Zhang Zhidong) heard the news and sent an urgent telegram to Guifu, the magistrate of Shaoxing. He immediately closed down Shaoxing Datong School and arrested Xu Xilin's colleague Qiu Jin. Because Datong School is located in Shanyin County, Gui Fu appointed Li Zhongyue, the magistrate of Shanyin County who has been in office for less than half a year, to be responsible for the investigation of Datong School.

Li Zhongyue, who was born in a scholarly family, had long admired Qiu Jin's knowledge. He often uses the poem "A woman can write poetry, better than your generation" to educate her son's love for talents beyond words. So "although the incident started, I tried my best to protect it."

The Yinshan gentry knew Li Zhongyue's painstaking management of this place, and dozens of people gathered in the county government to plead for the protection of this place. Li Zhongyue told them, "Even if you don't come, I will never make a move." So he went to the government office and declared to your government that "the school has no deviant behavior and cannot be destroyed by force and disturb the place; Let's secretly investigate whether it is true or not, and then decide. " Although you are unhappy in your heart, you are not very exclusive at first. After Li Zhongyue returned to Yinshan, he discussed with the gentry. At that time, he didn't have any good plans, but he deliberately stayed put and delayed the time so that the teachers and students in the school could escape.

1in the afternoon of July, 907 (June 4th, Guangxu 33), your government sent Li Zhongyue to the official residence and sternly reprimanded him: "What's the purpose of not implementing the imperial constitutional order? You are forbidden to send troops immediately and kill all the teachers and students in the school, otherwise I will cable you to collude with the school, and you can do it yourself. " He left Tetsuo's second urging order to Li Zhongyue and left. Li Zhongyue had no choice but to go back to the house and tell the gentry, "I can't stop the situation at this point, but I will do my best to avoid hurting people's lives." At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, under the supervision of Gui Fu, Li Zhongyue, together with Fu Biaobei, led a new army of 300 people and went to Datong School to catch the "disorderly party". In order to prevent soldiers from shooting people, Li Zhongyue deliberately walked in front of the car and let the Qing soldiers follow him and entered the school. He also ordered soldiers not to shoot indiscriminately, but to arrest people. So, eight teachers and students, including Qiu Jin and Franz Chen, were arrested on the spot and taken to the county government office. Subsequently, Gui Fu ordered the "offenders" to be brought to the government office for a "three-court trial" with Li Ruinian, the magistrate of Huiji County, and Li Zhongyue, the magistrate of Shanyin County. In the lobby, Qiu Jin was smiling and indomitable. He only admitted that he had had a family revolution and a husband-and-wife revolution, but denied that he had participated in the political revolution that overthrew the Qing government. Your blessing is helpless, so we have to order Li Zhongyue to take Qiu Jin and others back to Shanyin County to continue the trial.

The next morning, your government ordered Li Zhongyue to raid Qiu Jin's maiden outside the city. In order to prevent finding out the evidence of Qiu Jin revolution and bringing more people into trouble, Li Zhongyue deliberately refused to let his men search the small building where Qiu Jin lived, and hastily withdrew his troops, but found nothing. 1907 On the afternoon of July (5th day of June in Guangxu thirty-three years), Li Zhongyue was ordered to arraign Qiu Jin. He couldn't bear to kill Qiu Jin. After a little interrogation, he asked the copywriter to bring Franz Chen and other seven people to court for trial. He made an exception and set up a seat for Qiu Jin to sit in a chair and talk to him alone. After the conversation, Li Zhongyue had a pen and paper given to Qiu Jin, and Qiu Jin wrote a desperate poem "Autumn Rain Sorrow". Li Zhongyue is full of praise for Ms. Li's calligraphy works. Qiu Jin said, "I can't write because I didn't see the sticker. I can write several articles. " So Li Zhongyue asked Qiu Jin to write a composition. Qiu Jin said that he didn't use a brush for many years and was not used to writing. Li also gave him a fountain pen and an English exercise book. Qiu Jin set out to write more than 1,000 words, mainly stating his life experience and the charges against his arrest. The whole "interrogation" process lasted for two hours, and the silence in the room was abnormal, just like a visitor.

This situation was reported to Gui Fu by the spy. Gui Fu was furious and asked Li Zhongyue angrily, "Why don't you use torture instead of being a guest?" Li Zhongyue argued that "both of them are scholars and Qiu Jin is a woman, so the evidence is insufficient and it is difficult to use punishment". Seeing Li's statement, your government knew that there was no result and asked him to go to Hangzhou at night. He told Zhang Zengyang, the governor of Zhejiang Province, that Qiu Jin had admitted to plotting revolution, and Zhang Zengyang immediately wrote a "summary execution" without review. Late at night, Gui Fu rushed back to Shaoxing to summon Li Zhongyue, presented Zhang Zengyang's letters, and ordered him to slay Qiu Jin immediately. Li Zhongyue still argued: "Can you kill people without evidence?" Guifu sharply reprimanded: "This is a constitutional order. Who dares to disobey? Today's matter, kill it, in jun; You are also here, please take care and don't let future generations be wise. " Li Zhongyue knew that he could no longer argue, so he went back to the county government and thought for a long time. Neither side had a solution.

After midnight,1at 3 am on July 6, 907, the task could not be delayed any longer. Li Zhongyue took Qiu Jin to the lobby and said to Qiu Jin, "I am too humble to be fulfilled, and I am embarrassed to die." After that, my parents "cried with the sound" on the spot, and the officials around me also "cared for each other". Li Zhongyue asked Ms. Li what else she wanted. Qiu Jin expressed deep gratitude to his parents for their secret protection, and asked them not to behead or take off their clothes after the execution. Li Zhongyue agreed to her request. At four o'clock in the morning, under the supervision and urging of your confidant, Li Zhongyue was forced to escort Qiu Jin to Xuantingkou, Shaoxing for punishment, and a generation of female heroes died heroically. Guifu, the Shaoxing magistrate, was extremely dissatisfied with Li Zhongyue's actions of defending Qiu Jin and repeatedly disobeying orders. Immediately after Qiu Jin's execution, he sent a telegram to Zhang Zengyang, Zhejiang Province, relaying Li Zhongyue's negative performance in the Qiu Jin case. Within three days, Li Zhongyue was dismissed for "shielding women's crimes". On the day of leaving office, hundreds of Shaoxing gentry were sent to Ke Qiao, 30 miles away from the city, in ten boats, still reluctant to go. Li Zhongyue said guiltily to the people who saw me off: "It's a pity that you didn't save the overall situation!"

Li Zhongyue stayed in Hangzhou after leaving his job. In his apartment in Hangzhou, he was moping all day, repeating the sentence "Although I didn't kill Boren, Boren died because of me", and he felt deeply guilty about Qiu Jin's death. He often "gazes at and meditates" the seven words "autumn rain and autumn wind are sad" written by Qiu Jin, and cries bitterly for it, even to the point of three or five times a day or even seven or eight times. The listeners comforted Li Zhongyue one after another, but Li Zhongyue could not get out of the remorse of his conscience and gradually sprouted the idea of martyrdom. First, he tried to commit suicide several times and jumped into the well without help. After several days, he tied an old tree with a rope, but his wife found him, and his family was on guard, afraid to stay away, but he was determined to die. 1907 10 (September 23, Guangxu 33) At 9: 00 am, Li Zhongyue hanged himself in his unsuspecting apartment, at the age of 53. At this time, it was only one hundred days before Qiu Jin was killed.

After the news of Li Zhongyue's suicide came out, all the gentry in Zhejiang mourned. The gentry in urban and rural areas in Hangzhou went to pay their respects three days ago. The Shanghai Chinese and Foreign Daily, Shen Bao, News and other media rushed to report it, and public opinion was at a loss. All walks of life condemned Shaoxing magistrate Gui Fu and Zhejiang Zhang Fu Zeng Yang for being unfair to Li Zhongyue. Qiu Jin's case was also put into the new drama Six Heroes in the Snow to rehabilitate Qiu Jin and Li Zhongyue. Since then, Qiu Jin's revolutionary deeds have been widely circulated, and Zhang Zengyang and Gui Fu, the executioners who killed revolutionary martyrs, have also been destroyed by the crusade of the people of the whole country. After the success of the Revolution of 1911, the Qiu Jin case was solved. Dr. Sun Yat-sen personally wrote four characters for Ms. Qiu Jin, and wrote a couplet: "Jiang Chendan, I feel that you are the first to praise the League; Shed blood on the pavilion, ashamed to recruit a chivalrous female soul. " 19 12, Zhejiang revolutionary philosopher Mr. Chu Hui and Qiu Jin's close friends and Ms. Xu built the Qiujin Tomb and Jianhu Temple by the lake, and dedicated Li Zhongyue's "Divine Position" in the temple with the title "Li Zhongyue's Divine Position in Qingyin County" and the book "Mr. Li Zhongyue, a native of Anqiu County, Shandong Province, Autumn Case".

"Continued Anqiu Xinzhi" contains; "Zhejiang people remember that after the autumn case was solved, they built a temple on the West Lake and sacrificed to heaven at the age of 20." When the Republic of China was founded, the truth came out, and the "Autumn Case" was exposed. Li was enshrined in Qiujin Temple. Qiu and Li became good friends. Since then, the deeds of Li Zhongyue and Qiu Jin have been recorded in history.
