Shanjuan Town merged in 2000 and Mingling Town merged in 2004. Zhang Zhu Town is located in the southwest of Yixing City. Hufu Town in the east, Taihua Town and Changxing County in Zhejiang Province in the south, Zhuxi Town in the west and Xinjie and Xushe Town in the north. Area 175 km2, of which the water surface area is 5,000 mu. The resident population is 75,000. The built-up area of the town is 3.8 square kilometers. The town government is located in Renmin North Road, Zhang Zhu, 25 kilometers southwest of the municipal government.

The original Shanjuan Town 1949 was Shanjuan Township, 1959 was changed to commune, 1983 was changed to township, and 1993 was improved. 1996, with an area of 47.6 square kilometers and a population of/kloc-0.5 million, governs four administrative villages 14, including Wudong, Shanggan, Nanbu, Feili, Xia Dong, Shandong, Guo Shan, Zhu Ling, Hexing, Huangshu, Geshan, Nanba, Yushan and Furong. In 2000, the town was revoked and merged into Zhang Zhu Town.
The original Mingling Town 1949 was Mingling Township, 1959 was changed to Commune, and 1983 was changed to Township. 1996, with an area of 64 square kilometers and a population of10.4 million, governs 9 administrative villages, namely Xia Ling, Kong Li, Changgang, Tea Farm, Baishan, Pingyuan, Longchi, Shengzhuang and Taohua. In 2000, the town was established and merged into Zhang Zhu Town in 2004.
