Wang Rengong's grandfather, Wang Jianwei, was the secretariat of Fengzhou in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, while his father, Wang Mangzhou, was the secretariat. Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty was appointed as the king's archive room, then moved to Long Island (west of Longnan and Lixian), and later promoted to riding a general.
During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty 19 to 20 years (599-600), Su Yang, king of Yue, crusaded against Turks in Lingwu (Ningxia) and worked in Kaifu.
After Yang Guang ascended the throne, Wang Rengong followed Su Yang in his crusade against Yang Liang, the rebellious Hanwang, and was promoted to general. He has served as the secretariat of Luzhou and Weizhou, and the prefect of Jixian County (Jixian County, Henan Province). Later, he was appointed as the satrap. Because of his popularity, when he left office, officials and people in Jixian detained their horses and sent them away in tears.

In the 11th year of Daye (6 15), the Turks invaded the border, and Wang Rengong was reinstated after breaking the imperial edict, and he was appointed as the magistrate of Mayi (Shuozhou, Shanxi), leading the county soldiers to repel the Turks several times.
In the 13th year of Daye (6 17), Liu Wuzhou launched a mutiny and Wang Rengong was killed at the age of 60.
