The highest peak of Maoer Mountain, Shenmaoding, is 2 142 meters above sea level. It is not only the first peak in Guangxi, but also the first peak in South China. The peak is a granite boulder, which looks like a lying cat, so it is called Maoershan.
It spans Xing 'an and Ziyuan counties in Guilin. It is 55km away from Xing 'an and 8 1 km away from downtown Guilin. It covers an area of 53,000 hectares.

Natural resources of Maoer Mountain
Maoer Mountain is an alpine scenic spot, with 1 12 species of rare animals and 1436 species of wild plants.
Among them, there are 36 species of rhododendron, and the famous hemlock is a precious tree species left over from the ice age. Together with Metasequoia glyptostroboides and Ginkgo biloba, it is called "living fossil" in the plant kingdom. Another famous tertiary plant Liriodendron, the most representative primitive species of Orchidaceae, also has a certain number in the northwest valley of Maoershan. In addition, there are 20 rare species, such as cat excrement, litsea cubeba, tall fescue, Rhododendron longibracteatum, Podocarpus heterophyllum and Patrinia heterophylla, which are representative primitive species of Akebiaceae.
