Oppenheimer (1858 ~ 19 19), the author of this book, is a famous scholar of international law in modern times. Jennings, the reviser of the ninth edition, is Huiwei Professor of International Law at Cambridge University and President of the International Court of Justice. Watts is the legal adviser to the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. After the first edition of the original work 1905 ~ 1906, it established its position as a classic work of international law. After eight revisions, it has always been the most popular international religion and widely circulated. Thirty-seven years after the eighth revision, the first volume was revised and published by Jennings and Watts, which was well received by the international law community. Considering the development of international law, the new edition has expanded the scope and content, and added new supplements such as the law of the sea, diplomatic and consular relations, and treaty law. It also involves issues such as outer space, terrorism, environmental protection, Antarctica and human rights. The first volume of the new edition has more than doubled the content of the eighth edition and is divided into two volumes and five parts. The new edition has maintained its original level and reputation, and is the main reference work for the teaching and research of international law, which is also of great benefit to practitioners.
Ian Brownlee, Principles of Public International Law

It can be called a masterpiece, authoritative international law monograph and international law textbook with world influence.
This book fully shows Professor Brownlee's practical research spirit and empirical analysis skills on major issues of international law in peacetime, and reflects his superb level of using the theories and methods of empirical analysis law to analyze all kinds of obscure international law norms in combination with complex international law cases, profoundly revealing the actual situation of international law operation and the unique position of international law in international life, thus helping people understand the potential and irreplaceable role of empirical law in international law research.
