Peng Yi was born in Shenyang, 1958. 1982 graduated from biology department of Fudan university, majoring in insects. 1994 graduated from Yi Xue university in Tokyo with a master's degree in education. He used to be the director of Shanghai Science and Education Film Studio, editor of a newspaper and editor of Shanghai Children's Publishing House. Now he is a researcher at the Institute of Children's Culture of Zhejiang Normal University. He is a member of the Chinese Writers Association.
