Jerry Allen West (1May 29th, 938-) is a famous American professional basketball player, coach and manager. Born in West Virginia. In order to commemorate his contribution, the NBA uses his silhouette when dribbling as its symbol.

Like most NBA players, West was excellent in high school and West Virginia University. 1959 won the NCAA championship, and then joined the Los Angeles Lakers for 14 years. Also won the 1960 Rome Olympic gold medal on behalf of the American national team.

In his career, West scored 25 192 points, averaged 27 points per game, made 7 160 free throws and assisted 6238 times.

West was selected as the NBA's best defensive team four times, the NBA's best defensive team 10, and the All-Star Game 14.
