During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, he served as the squad leader, platoon leader and company commander of the Red 6 Army Corps. Participated in the base areas of the Hunan-Jiangxi revolution, all previous counter-campaigns against "encirclement and suppression" and the Long March of the Red Second Front Army in the revolutionary base areas of Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan and Guizhou. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, he served as the battalion commander, division commander and chief of staff of the Eighth Route Army 120 Division, chief of staff of the Sixth Division of Jizhong Military Region, and chief of communications of the 120 Division Command. Take part in the "anti-mopping-up" battle and the Hundred Regiments War in northwest Shanxi.
