Every time Guanyin Bodhisattva appears in The Journey to the West, there are basically two boys around Fu Nan and Long Nv. Among them, the boy named Lucky Boy is Hong Haier, the son of Niu and Princess Tiefan. Guanyin Bodhisattva made him a Fuwa to take with him in order to discipline his wildness. Another virgin, named Dragon Girl, rarely appeared in Journey to the West. We can only know something about Guanyin Bodhisattva through the dialogue between her and Wukong.
Dragon girl is better than Wukong. When Wukong met Hong Haier, although he was very capable, Hong Haier couldn't beat him. However, when Hong Haier used Samadhi fire, Wukong couldn't resist the smoke in Sanwei fire, and he was smoked to the ground twice and was seriously injured. So Wukong turned to Guanyin Bodhisattva for help, hoping to use Guanyin Bodhisattva's vase to put out the true fire of Samadhi in Hong Haier. Bodhisattva wants to take the vase directly to Wukong, but thinks Wukong can't carry her vase because her bottle is full of water from the South China Sea, which is quite heavy.
At this time, the Bodhisattva asked the dragon lady around him to take a vase to extinguish the samadhi fire for Wukong, but the dragon lady was more beautiful. Worried that Wukong had even been abducted, the Bodhisattva set out to help Wukong surrender to Hong Haier. From this episode, it shows that the dragon lady may be better than Wukong, because she can move the vase of the bodhisattva, but Wukong can't.
The origin of Dragon Maiden is not revealed in The Journey to the West, but recorded in Buddhist scriptures. The dragon lady was originally the daughter of the dragon king of Pogiro. At the age of 8, she listened to the teachings of Manjusri Bodhisattva and realized the positive results at the Fahua Conference. She has become a Buddha. At that time, Wukong was still on the way to learn the scriptures, just a monkey head who practiced for hundreds of years, but the dragon girl had become a Buddha, indicating that her ability and status were above Wukong.
