Yuan Shikai's Yuan, or Yuan Longping's Yuan, people who know a little about history will also say that Yuan, Yuan Yuan, is the ancestor of Tu after the ancient emperor Yu Shun. Yuan is from Taikang, Henan. In the early years of the Western Han Dynasty, Sun's family moved back to settle down and became a famous local family. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Yuan moved to Runan, Henan. During the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Yuan moved to Taiyuan, Jingzhao, Huayin, Dongguang, Xiangyang and Pengcheng.
At the end of the Western Jin Dynasty, during the Eight Kings Rebellion, many Yuan gentry living in the Central Plains crossed the river and lived in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Qi Dynasty, Liang Dynasty and Chen Dynasty. Most of them are scattered all over the south of the Yangtze River because of their official duties. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, Yuan was still the most popular surname in the Central Plains. During this period, some Yuan moved to Hangzhou, Ningbo, Fenghua, Yinxian, Chengdu, Sichuan, Nanchang, Jiangxi and Fuan, Fujian.
At the end of the Song Dynasty, Yuan moved to Danyang, Hubei, Lujiang, Wuxi, Yangzhou and Nanjing, Anhui. After the Song and Yuan Dynasties, Yuan's descendants migrated all over the country.
