Male, born in 1940s, is the earliest international figure skating referee in China and the earliest international skating federation referee. From Chen Lu to Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo, and then to the historical moment created by the rising stars in the ice rink, Lao Yang is the most powerful witness of the rise of China figure skating in the world ice rink.

In the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, he was a figure skating referee. He is currently the director of the National Figure Skating Referee Committee and the academic director of Beijing Century Star Skating Club.
