Thinker and writer of the Western Han Dynasty, grandson of Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang.

His father Chang Lu is Liu Bang's youngest son. He was once named Li, the king of Huainan. When Emperor Wendi rebelled, he died of hunger strike on the way to exile.

Later, because Wendi didn't want to be accused of cannibalism, he divided Li Wangchang's fief into three parts and gave it to his three sons.

Liu An, Chang Lu's eldest son, was made King of Huainan, and his fiefs were in Shouxian and Huainan cities on the south bank of Huaihe River in Anhui Province.

During the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Liu An was forced to commit suicide because of "rebellion".
