Cao Conglian's last position was 149, deputy division commander.

Cao Conglian, a native of Huaibei, Anhui Province, was born a poor child and wandered the streets as a teenager. 1947, Cao Conglian, 17 years old, joined the PLA and became a machine gunner. Participated in Huaihai Campaign and Crossing the River Campaign, from Xiangxi to Sichuan. 1950, after entering Tibet, also participated in the self-defense counterattack against India, belonging to Tibet.

1979, the counterattack against Vietnam started. The 446th Regiment led by Cao Conglian and the 445th Division, where his then 18-year-old son Cao Hui was located, both entered Vietnam to fight. He told the head of the 445th regiment to put Cao Hui into the sharp knife company, charge at the forefront, and specialize in gnawing hard bones.

On March 2nd, 149 Division attacked Sabah, Vietnam, and the 446th Regiment went to support the 445th Regiment. Cao Conglian saw Cao Hui, and then saw the sacrifice of his son Cao Hui through the telescope.

After the war, Cao Conglian was promoted to 149 division deputy commander because of his outstanding military exploits.
