1952 was born in Hong Kong on September 6th.

197 1 received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the university of Michigan.

1975 obtained a master's degree in social psychology from Yale University.

1976 completed his studies at the university of Michigan, returned to Hong Kong, and worked in the Peninsula Knitting Factory run by his father Tang.

On July 16, 2003, he succeeded Liang Jinsong as Financial Secretary.

On May 25th, 2005, Donald Tsang resigned as the Chief Secretary for Administration and became the Acting Chief Executive in accordance with the provisions of the Basic Law. On June 2 1, Donald Tsang was appointed as the Chief Executive by the Central Committee, and was formally sworn in on June 24, with Henry Tang as the Financial Secretary.
