Yang Chengwu, born on 19 14, joined the Chinese Communist Youth League on 1928. 1929 participated in peasant riots in western Fujian, joined the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants, 1930 joined the Party. Yang Dezhi was born in 19 1 1, 1928 and joined the revolutionary army of workers and peasants, and joined the party in the same year.
During the Long March, Yang Chengwu was the political commissar of the Red Fourth Regiment of the Red Second Division, and Yang Dezhi was the head of the Red First Regiment of the Red First Division. On May 25th, 1935, a regiment of Yang Dezhi forcibly crossed the Dadu River. On May 29th, four regiments of Wang Kaixiang (head) and Yang Chengwu (political commissar) flew to capture the Luding Bridge.
After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Yang Chengwu was the head of the Independent Regiment of the Eighth Route Army 1 15 Division, and Yang Dezhi was the head of the 685th Regiment of the 343rd Brigade of the Eighth Route Army 1 15 Division. Both of them participated in the Battle of Pingxingguan.
After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, Yang Chengwu was appointed commander of Jizhong column of the first field army in Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region, commander and political commissar of the third column of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region, second political commissar of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Field Army, member of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei C.O., and commander of the third and twentieth corps of North China Field Army after 1948. Yang Dezhi served as commander of column 1 in Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region, column/2 in Shanxi-Chaji Military Region, and commander of the 2nd Corps of North China Military Region (later changed to China People's Liberation Army 1 9 Corps) in May 1948.
After the founding of New China, Yang Chengwu was appointed commander of Tianjin Garrison and deputy commander and commander of Beijing-Tianjin Garrison. Yang Dezhi is also the commander of Shaanxi Military Region.
Yang Chengwu was appointed commander of the 20th Corps of Chinese people's Volunteer Army to resist US aggression and aid Korea. He led the troops to participate in the summer and autumn defense campaign on the eastern front of Korea. Yang Dezhi served as commander of Chinese people's Volunteer Army 19 Corps, and led his troops to participate in the fifth campaign and autumn defensive operations.
Anyway, the two men have always had similar qualifications, similar positions and similar combat experience.
