Du Mu (303~852), a native of Mu Zhi, was a famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty. He was born in a noble family and was the grandson of Du You, the prime minister and historian in the middle Tang Dynasty. In the second year of Daiwa (828), he was buried and served as the proofreader of Chuwen Museum. He used to be the censor and the secretariat of Huangzhou, but he was excluded because of his integrity in the dispute between Niu and Li. In his later years, he served as Si Xun's foreign minister, historian, and official to Chinese book. Du Mu's poems are not only good at depicting vivid scenes, but also good at expressing rich feelings. They have not only bold and vigorous momentum, but also exquisite and elegant language and elegant charm, forming bold, elegant, beautiful and vivid artistic characteristics. They are outstanding representatives of late Tang poetry, and they are also called "Little Du Li" with Li Shangyin. Famous works such as The Early Goose, Crossing Huaqing Palace, Bo Qinhuai, Mountain Walking and Jiangnan Spring are well-known masterpieces. His essays, such as "Sin Yan" and "On War", inherited the tradition of the ancient prose movement in the mid-Tang Dynasty, or criticized the hegemony of the buffer region, or lamented the bleak political situation in the late Tang Dynasty, reflecting the social reality in the late Tang Dynasty, with profound and thorough exposition, sharp and vigorous writing style and outstanding style. It has been passed down from generation to generation.
