As a human resource consultant, I need to spend a lot of time making judgments about people based on their introductions in their resumes. In such a role, my first task is to select a few qualified candidates from many applicants and help customers avoid the wrong recruitment of mediocre materials. Giving alms to job seekers is not my job. On the contrary, I find myself always handling every resume with some impatience and cynicism.
Too many resumes reflect a naive idea, and rational readers will read every word. The sign of a rational reader is a tolerant heart, a detached self and a lot of free time. There are very few such people, and of course I have never been lucky enough to meet them.
I actually read less than half of the hundreds of resumes on my desk. After a quick glance, most of them are classified as "complete reading when time permits" The rest can be taken seriously, because they have the conditions of an effective resume: like a marketing brochure, stimulate my interest in a special "product"-you. Failed resumes can be divided into two categories: one is to test my patience, and the other is to gain my trust.
Pass the preliminary examination
It takes 2-5 minutes to read a two-page single-line printed resume completely, and it takes about 40 seconds even to browse quickly. In these 40 seconds, I must find a "reason" to keep reading, otherwise, I am ready to read the next article. So don't let me feel bored or uninterested in your resume at first sight, so don't use dense long paragraphs and narrow paragraph intervals.
Most people who write resumes know that self-promotion should not exceed two pages. However, many people use this ceiling as an excuse to fill two pages. In this part, they pile up personal historical materials in the first person as detailed as possible, and the whole article is full of pronouns, adjectives and clauses.
Please don't do this. The blank lines in my resume should be wide, the title should be bold, the first line of the paragraph should be indented, or any marks such as thick dots should be used, as long as it can quickly guide my eyes to the content that may attract me. You should avoid using fancy fonts, flashy formats or other obvious special visual effects. They hurt the content of my resume and gave me a reason not to read it.
Even the most pleasing format can't replace the missing content in your resume. Think of job hunting as a gun battle, and resume is the battlefield of battle. I think you are trying to brag about yourself, and you should also think that I will try my best to belittle or refute every achievement of yours. If you can sit on the horse after the first round of screening, you can enter the second round-detailed audit. After this, you can enter the castle to see the princess.
Show it to the reader
Give me a clear sense of direction. I can always see some resumes full of data. Obviously, the author is sure that I will fill the gaps for them, synthesize scattered information, contact relevant content, and finally determine what kind of talents they belong to. However, in the face of many successful candidates, I have no motivation to do these things. It is not my duty to find the meaning of life for you.
When you state your work objectives, you should be simple and clear, and explain how to give full play to your talents. I know my needs. Only your ambition or ambition meets my needs will interest me. For example, the following are three job-hunting goals I recently saw in my resume and my intuitive reaction.
1. Work objective: A position with great responsibilities, challenges and development space can explore my potential and make meaningful contributions to the realization of the company's goals.
Does anyone want to find a position that is neither responsible nor challenging or has room for development?
What do you mean by "meaningful contribution"? Please give me some facts so that I can really test whether our goals are the same.
My impression: without detailed information and specific direction, it is impossible to be hired.
Second, work objectives: sales support of scientific and technological products.
I know what kind of company you want to work in, but I don't know what kind of role or responsibility you want to play.
My impression: you have a good chance of being hired, but you forced me to continue reading your resume to understand your level, experience and ability. I won't think about anything else until I find the answer myself.
Target position: engaged in production management, completely independent assessment of profits and losses. It should be an industry that is growing rapidly or applying new technologies.
Clear job hunting objectives; If I were a whip manufacturer, I wouldn't waste each other's time.
Clearly explain the level of management responsibilities you are seeking.
A confident tone.
My impression: it will be a good interview, and it won't be too difficult to get into the subject.
People often complain that it is difficult to list suitable job hunting goals when changing careers, because there are too many fields for them to give full play to their talents. In this case, it is more effective to simply introduce or summarize your own experience than work objectives, because the former emphasizes what you can provide, not what you want. Either way, you should let me know that you have fully considered the issue of changing careers, instead of looking for a job aimlessly or desperately fleeing the original career disaster.
If you sum up with experience, don't just make it a perpetual calendar, it must be able to introduce everything you have achieved, so as to explain how the past may affect you now. I have seen many smart people find it difficult to display their talents, so I always think about how to bring them into play instead of simply having them.
Deduct style score
It is a pleasant challenge for me to have a clear and specific work goal and outline or briefly introduce my experience. Through them, I can evaluate all kinds of evidence you provide to prove your talents, achievements and future responsibilities.
At this stage, the content and form of your resume become equally important. I pay attention to both what you say and how you do it. I am like a referee in diving or gymnastics, deducting the style points of the imperfect parts of your resume from the content and form. So a prominent shortcoming or a series of subtle shortcomings accumulate together, which may make me lose confidence in you. I am optimistic about those who are low-key, those who prove their value with past achievements, titles and evidence of others' trust-real and indisputable.
As for the style of resume, there is no reason to use first-person pronouns, because we all know whose resume this is. The narrative form of the three people should not be considered either. It doesn't sound like an objective evaluation by outsiders, but it just seems hypocritical.
I admire candidates who don't abuse ability adjectives. The descriptions of "main contribution", "dynamic scheme" and "significant improvement" are not objective facts. They are only the opinions of the author of the resume and will be discounted to some extent. In addition, I also dislike exaggerated adverbs of degree such as "actively", "actively" and "effectively".
I will also use verbs like "cowardice" to deduct points. Explain your past work and achievements from management, execution, analysis, creation or organization, so that mediocre people can assist, participate or help solve them.
You can highlight your past achievements with titles, numbers and names. I respect titles, because it shows that someone once trusted you enough to give you important responsibilities. But many people ignore this.
Numbers have two functions. The first is outstanding performance. Compared with the candidate who simply said "increased productivity", a person who "increased factory output in seven months 156%" will undoubtedly impress you more. In addition, "managing 350 technical designers" can prove your ability better than "leading an engineering team". Secondly, figures can provide concrete evidence that is hard to question.
Names and numbers have the same function. International Business Electric Company (IBM) is not an "important data processing company", it is IBM. Of course, the significance of working here can't be compared with a small company like Marty Software Paradise. Can you imagine that George Washington just wrote in his resume that he once played an important role in the policy planning and implementation of a major country in the world?
If you can't directly rely on the advantages of your name and try to attract my attention with descriptions like "Fortune 100 Company" or "the world's largest shoelace manufacturer", my understanding of your abilities and achievements will be very different.
Touch my heart
The establishment of trust can not only rely on covering up one's own shortcomings, but also find out one's goals and key interests through full background research. If I (or the company I represent) is really your best choice, then you should try to get into my mind and think about what questions I might ask you about your resume, in roughly the same order. If you can't do this, it means that you don't know your own market and need to do more research. I found that it would be very satisfying if a certain information could be presented right in front of my eyes when my subconscious felt the need. If this happens several times in a two-page resume, I think this applicant really meets my requirements. That's what I need.
If you realize that my understanding holds the fate of your resume, not your will, then we can get along well. Tell me how to use you. Come on, try to sell yourself, so I can't refuse.

The secret of a successful interview
Interview is quite strange to most social freshmen who have just stepped out of school, but it is an extremely important step in the job search process. Although the individual's conditions and abilities are decisive factors, only knowing yourself and yourself can win every battle. The more you prepare in advance, the better your performance will be when you get cold feet. Here are the secrets of a successful interview:
1.GAI's plan.
Interviews are like self-promotion. Job seekers must plan ahead and sell themselves as the best products. More on-site preparation reduces the possibility of a mistake.
2. Be familiar with the current situation of the applicant company and accumulate common sense in related industries.
Try to understand the background and business content of the company you are applying for, and you can get into the situation quickly and ask some in-depth questions during the interview. At the same time, you don't have to waste precious time in the interview, just know the general situation of the company, so you might as well make full use of your time to express yourself.
3. Examine your own strengths and weaknesses.
Evaluate all your qualifications and prepare a convincing self-introduction speech.
4. Practice dealing with things that are unfavorable to your interview.
Memories of past failures or shortcomings often trouble job seekers in interviews. But the positive and negative meanings of things depend on how the parties understand and explain them. If you hold a negative view of something and show it in words, then the person in charge will think that you have done something you shouldn't have done. Even if you make mistakes, you can take them as a learning experience.
Principle 1: Don't say negative things, don't apologize, and don't explain too much.
Principle 2: use positive things to offset negative things, and it is best not to say anything that hurts the image.
5. Build self-confidence.
Be mentally prepared, build up self-confidence, and don't pay too much attention to gains and losses. It takes time and experience to find a suitable job, just as couples need some fate. As long as you show confidence properly, you can get rid of unnecessary tension and fear.
6. Simulate possible problems and prepare to ask questions to the enterprise.
There is no rehearsal or role simulation before the interview, just like going to a speech contest without rehearsal, which can't achieve the best results. According to the HR director in charge of recruitment, job seekers should be willing to ask questions, so that the company can know the level of job seekers and what they really want to know. If the job seeker just waits for the interviewer to ask questions, it is impossible to leave a good impression. Questions you can ask the enterprise during the interview are as follows:
What do you think is the most important work item in this job?
What are the assessment methods and standards of your company?
What is your company's future business plan?
When will your company inform you whether to accept or not?
7. Send attractive messages.
No matter what kind of interviewer you are facing and what the interview content is, remember to send attractive information to the interviewer in order to stand out and leave a deep impression in the interview. These attractive messages include:
Emphasize that you are the most potential benign asset of the company in the future.
You have the potential to help the enterprise achieve the expected goals. You are an asset of the company, not a liability. Enterprise talent recruitment is not to give favors to anyone, but to find talented, capable and qualified people.
Have a clear goal in life
People who have long-term clear goals for their career are more likely to be appreciated and appointed by enterprises. Those who have a positive concept of self-growth are more enterprising in their work and have a strong ambition to enter the work situation.
Strong willingness to work
During the interview, you should always maintain a high degree of enthusiasm and interest in the job, and emphasize that this job is your own niche. You can also ask questions at an appropriate time, for example, can you ask me what I need to pay attention to in this job? Wait a minute.
Ability to work with colleagues and teams.
According to Lin Nengjing, the former president of the Human Resources Association, entering the company must cooperate with responsible colleagues, and it is easy to communicate and coordinate with others. It can be said that half the work has been completed. If you have experience in work-study programs or community activities related to communication and cooperation, you can try to win the favor of the examiner with examples.
Master the principle of sincerity
In terms of employment standards, talent is the primary principle, and sincerity is an important mobile factor. Make full preparations before the interview,
A clean appearance and full display of self are sincere expressions.
In a word, how to show your best side in an interview depends on your professional knowledge, personality and ability to react on the spot! It is understood that local companies and Japanese business enterprises are usually more vulnerable to gender discrimination, and they are more inclined to be honest in personality traits; European and American companies pay more attention to the aspirations of job seekers. Large-scale companies often take loyalty as the standard and don't like people with low stability. However, smaller companies rarely have perfect talent training plans, and usually take experienced and immediately available talents as the admission principle. Therefore, in the face of different enterprises, job seekers emphasize different information or focus on self-promotion.
