1946, Wu Sanlian participated in the election of delegates to the Constituent Assembly and was elected with the highest vote in the country. 1950 became the official mayor of Taipei. 195 1 won more than 92,000 votes and was re-elected with 65.5% of the votes. During the period of 1954, Wu Sanlian was elected as a member of Taiwan Province Province, and was called "five tigers outside the party" with Guo Yuxin, Guo, Zhan Yixin and Li Wanju. During this period, Wu Sanlian not only devoted himself to the management of Independent Evening News, but also participated in the party organization movement in Lei Zhen.
Wu Sanlian also believes that literature and art are the lifeblood of a nation's long-term survival and development, and also the sustenance of a country's humanistic spirit. Therefore, Wu Sanlian is committed to promoting related activities. 1October 301978,65438 established the "Mr. Wu Sanlian Literature Award Foundation", which enriched the connotation of local literature and art. Later, 1989 expanded the award to the humanities and social sciences award. Wu Sanlian is an important spiritual leader of "Tainan Gang" in the industrial circle. When running an independent evening paper, he also adheres to the principles of objectivity, neutrality and locality, leaving little room for freedom of speech in Taiwan Province Province. During the vigorous development of non-party movements in the1980s, Wu Sanlian also played the role of mediating Tintin for many times. Wu Sanlian not only subsidizes outstanding news media writers, but also rewards local research to show his concern for local culture in Taiwan Province Province. In addition, Wu Sanlian also founded Tainan Textile and Global Cement, and founded Nantai Technical College, Ren Tiangong Business School and Yanping Middle School with remarkable achievements.
Wu Sanlian served as a national policy adviser in his later years and died of heart failure in 1988.
