Zhou Dong (officially recorded as Zhou Tong,1040-1119), a native of Tongguan, Huazhou, was called "Shaanxi Xia Tiearm". A martial arts master at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, he was famous for his archery. The teacher of Yue Fei, a famous Southern Song Dynasty star, was called a descendant of Jiang Wei by storytellers in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Zhou Dong is good at martial arts and archery. His famous apprentices are Jade Kirin Lu Junyi, Leopard Head Lin Chong and Zeng Toucheng Shi Wengong. There are also rumors that Song Wu's Yuhuan step and Yuanyang leg were also taught by Zhou Dong.
Some people regard Zhou Dong as a virtual bamboo in various epilogues of "Dragon's Eight Branches". Xu Zhu's father is the abbot of Xuan Ci in Shaolin Temple, and the current layman's surname is Zhou, so Xu Zhu was renamed after secularization.
