Professor Cao is a representative scholar of contemporary compilation research. Compilation is a branch of ancient philology in China, which is regarded as archaeology in the field of ancient philology. Many pioneering achievements have been made in this field, and they have been widely cited in the current literature research. Main achievements: The Collection of Ancient Books on Lost Learning in China (370,000 words) is the first monograph on lost learning. In 2002, he was awarded the third prize for outstanding achievements in humanities and social sciences research in China universities, and in 2003, he was designated as the "National Teaching Book for Postgraduates" by the Ministry of Education. A Centennial Study on the Collection of Lost Documents in China was reprinted by Xinhua Digest (2002- 1), won the Excellent Paper Award of "Southeast Academic" of Fujian Social Science Association in 2002, and won the first prize of the Sixth Outstanding Achievement Award of Social Sciences in Jilin Province in 2004. Since 2000, he has been involved in the study of ancient myths and legends in China. This is a typical interdisciplinary research field of ancient literature, history, philology, anthropology and archaeology.
