On 1993, the newly edited historical drama "Legend of Yao Fei" created and performed by Guilin Gui Troupe went to Beijing to participate in the third Wenhua Award of the Ministry of Culture, and won the "Wenhua New Drama Award" and "Wenhua Performance Award", which was the first time that Guangxi won the highest national drama award.

Objective that play is adapt from the story of Ji Fei, a Yao woman and the mother of emperor Xiaozong in Ming dynasty. Through Ji's entry into the palace, his encounter with the emperor, his title as a princess and his demotion to the cold palace, the play shows the simplicity, kindness, integrity and fearlessness of the Yao people, and praises the unity between Yao and Han.
