Xinkai Town is located in the southwest of Huangmei County, 42 kilometers away from the county seat, bordering on the Yangtze River and facing Jiujiang City and Ruichang City of Jiangxi Province across the river, with a total area of 73.97 square kilometers and a population of 63,000. A total of 5 1000 mu of cultivated land. It has jurisdiction over 4 steering groups and 33 villages. The town government is stationed in Xinkai Village. The town has a total population of 63,800 and an area of 77 square kilometers. The 33 villages under its jurisdiction are: Xinkai, Waizhou, Dukouxia, Xiazhouwei, Baishazhou, Caijiadu, yangsi Temple, Bianzhou, Xihetou, Wangzhou Lake, Yuanli, Mudstone Head, Tuanpo, Shangwufang, Guo Wang, Huang Zhefu, Biandanlie, Laigangli, Xinxilie and Baoxing. Xinkai Town is located in the southwest of Huangmei County, bordering the Yangtze River in the south, and adjacent to Caishan Town, Konglong Town and Lu Fen Town in the northwest, northeast and southeast respectively. According to legend, Hongren, a five-ancestor bodhisattva, gave a lecture here for the first time, hence the name "Xinkai".
