Radar soldiers refer to arms or professional soldiers who use radar as their main equipment to obtain information about air, sea, ground or space targets. Belong to all services. As an arms, it has leading organs, troops, colleges and research institutions. An important part of the national air defense system. An important supporting force for military operational command and weapon control.
According to the Military Service Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), the service period of all services is the same:
Conscript: 2 years, failed to retire as a non-commissioned officer;
Junior non-commissioned officers (corporal, sergeant): three years each, retired after failing to be promoted to the first level;
Intermediate non-commissioned officers (staff sergeant, fourth-grade master sergeant): 4 years each, retired after failing to be promoted to the next higher level;
Senior noncommissioned officers (third-class and second-class master sergeant): 4 years respectively, failing to be promoted to the next higher level;
Senior non-commissioned officer (first-class master sergeant): 6 years, and retired from the army after the expiration.
The air force, including radar soldiers, is no exception.
Main tasks:
Alert reconnaissance
Look for related targets in the air, sea and ground, measure their coordinates such as azimuth, distance and height, and identify their types, uses, models and friend-or-foe attributes; Track enemy targets, master their movement elements and action characteristics, and judge their threat degree; Inform military command organs, combat troops and civil defense agencies of the information of enemy targets.

Article 18 Soldiers in active service include soldiers in compulsory military service and soldiers in voluntary military service. Soldiers who perform compulsory military service are called conscripts, and soldiers who perform voluntary military service are called non-commissioned officers.
Article 19 The term of active service for conscripts shall be two years.
Article 20 Upon the expiration of active service, a conscript may be changed to a non-commissioned officer on his own initiative and with the approval of a unit at or above the regiment level according to the needs of the army and the Corps. According to the needs of the army and corps, non-commissioned officers can be recruited directly from the public and civilian personnel with professional skills in non-military departments.
Non-commissioned officers serve in active service and perform graded service. The term of active service for non-commissioned officers is generally not more than 30 years, and the age is not more than 55 years.
Measures for serving non-commissioned officers in active service according to their grades and recruiting non-commissioned officers directly from non-military departments shall be formulated by the state, the State Council, the Academy of Sciences, the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Committee.
