Zhang Xiyan was born in Guixi, Jiangxi Province at the end of the Southern Song Dynasty. The 32nd generation is the grandson of Zhenjun. According to the Records of Dragon and Tiger Mountain, he was appointed by his ancestors as a Taoist priest, serving as the palace supervisor and acting as the abbot. Awarded "Master Chong Miao", Jiangzhou Zhengdao, in charge of Dong Xiao Palace and Yu Xiu Courtyard of Shangqing Palace.
