Hu's surname is Guiman, and he is a descendant of the 33rd generation. In the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty, after the destruction of the Shang Dynasty, he visited the descendants of the former emperors, found the lineal nobles of Yu, married his eldest daughter, da ji, and sealed him in Hu (now Hu Township, Zhecheng County, Henan Province) to keep his ancestral worship to Yu Shun.
