Chen Shuliang was born in a reading family in Changsha, Hunan. After graduating from high school, it coincided with the Cultural Revolution. He left school to work and tirelessly taught himself. 1978 was admitted to the postgraduate of literature in Wei, Jin, Sui and Tang Dynasties of Wuhan University, studied under Professor Wu Linbo, 198 1 obtained a master's degree in literature, and was assigned to the Literature Institute of Hunan Academy of Social Sciences to do classical literature research.

Academically, he followed Mr. Chen Yinque's method of "using history to prove poetry and poetry to prove history" and published some academic works.
