Baoding Campus of North China Electric Power University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and also a national key construction university of "21Project" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform". In 20 17, the school entered the ranks of national "double-class" construction universities, focusing on the construction of energy and electric power science and engineering disciplines.

1995, North China Electric Power University and Beijing Institute of Electric Power Economics merged to form North China Electric Power University. In March 2003, the school was placed under the management of the Ministry of Education by the former State Power Company and officially became a university directly under the Ministry of Education. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school headquarters was moved from Baoding to Beijing, and the Baoding Campus of North China Electric Power University was set up separately, and the two places implemented integrated management.
