Zhushan County borders Shennongjia, a world-famous Chinese medicine warehouse. Natural conditions such as climate, soil, vegetation and environment are very suitable for the growth of various Chinese herbal medicines, and the resources of Chinese herbal medicines are very rich. According to the survey, there are 607 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines in the county, including 546 kinds of plants, 56 kinds of animals and 5 kinds of minerals. Among 763 kinds of important Chinese herbal medicines in China, there are 383 kinds of Zhushan, among which 28 kinds are traditional authentic Chinese herbal medicines, many of which are suitable for large-scale cultivation.
In accordance with the model of "enterprise development, government subsidies, farmers' voluntary and market operation", Damiao Township in Zhushan County has vigorously developed the Chinese herbal medicine industry and built a "Qinba Medicine Township" with the characteristics of Damiao. At present, five demonstration bases for planting Chinese herbal medicines have been built in the township, with more than 2,500 mu of Chinese herbal medicines suitable for local growth, such as Anoectochilus roxburghii, Bupleurum chinense, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Paeonia lactiflora and Bletilla striata, which can drive more than 100 poor households to make money and promote poverty alleviation.
Bletilla striata (scientific name: Bletilla striata) is also known as lotus grass and licorice. It is a perennial herbaceous bulbous plant (root tuber) with a height of 18-60 cm. Bletilla striata has a wide range of medicinal and garden values. Mainly used for hemostasis, detumescence and granulation. Flowers are purplish red, white, blue, yellow and pink, which can be potted indoors for viewing.
