Writing English resumes of visiting scholars is not as difficult as you think. You only need to master two aspects.
First, be able to show yourself comprehensively and emphatically.
The so-called comprehensiveness means putting all kinds of effective information closely related to the application, including name, date of birth (or age), gender, marital status, contact information, educational experience, research interests, scientific research experience, papers and works, etc.
Generally speaking, all the information listed above is necessary, and the lack of any one item will lead to the lack of information. If the intended foreign teacher can't see this information, he may think that you are hiding something and your integrity is not high. The so-called focus is to highlight your advantages in the professional field you are applying for in your resume. Please note that the advantages here are not only your own advantages, but also the advantages of the institution (that is, your own research institution).
My advantages mainly include what schools I have attended, what papers I have published, what projects I have done, and what high-level awards I have won. The advantage of institutions is that applicants are easily overlooked, but foreign teachers attach great importance to them. All cooperation is based on interests. If your organization is worthless to foreign teachers, then the people in your organization, that is, yourself, are worthless to him, and you are an irrelevant person. It is hard to imagine a foreign tutor accepting an irrelevant person as a visiting scholar/postdoctoral fellow.
Second, be able to show yourself in particular.
To show yourself in particular is to show your own characteristics. What are the characteristics? It is a distinctive highlight. These highlights mainly include: various abilities (small language ability, strong computer ability, etc. ), social employment and related organizational resources (XX society contacts, etc. ), and personality (NGO members, volunteers, etc. If you can add the above highlights to your resume, you can make your image more three-dimensional and convey the message that "I am not only a scholar, but also a livelihood". There is no doubt that these highlights increase the persuasiveness of your resume.
Scholars are people who focus on academics, but they are not limited to academics. Resumes for foreign tutors should not be "academic resumes" but "academic resumes". Therefore, resumes for foreign tutors should be academic, not just academic. A resume, if it can be comprehensive, focused and "special" to show itself, can truly and vividly depict a scholar, beyond the general resume (limited to academic experience).
