Liu Jiaoshou was in charge of the management and construction of the key discipline of "Fluid Machinery and Engineering" and "Key Laboratory of Fluid Machinery" in Sichuan Province, mainly engaged in the teaching and scientific research of numerical simulation and performance prediction of internal flow (including multiphase flow) of fluid machinery, optimal design of fluid machinery, stability of hydraulic units, virtual reality technology of power engineering system and modern control technology of hydropower system.

Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and Department of Personnel were responsible for "Optimal Design and Software Package Development of Mixed-flow and Axial-flow Turbine Runners in Sandy Rivers" and the project of Sichuan Provincial Department of Education "Research on Automatic Measurement and Control System of Multiphase Flow Test Bench" won the third prize of Sichuan Scientific and Technological Progress; Its main research project "Research on integrated manufacturing system of pump CAD/CAPP/CAM" won the second prize of Sichuan Science and Technology Progress.
He has published five monographs, including Solid-liquid Two-phase Flow and Numerical Simulation in Hydraulic Machinery, Sediment Wear in Hydraulic Machinery, Hydraulic Units and Their Regulation, Installation and Maintenance, and Economic Operation and Maintenance of Hydropower Stations.
He has published more than 60 academic papers in important academic journals at home and abroad, such as k-ε two-equation turbine model of solid-liquid two-phase flow, research on solid-liquid two-phase turbulence and vortex in hydraulic turbomachinery, numerical prediction of silent invasion in hydraulic turbines, numerical prediction of internal pressure ventilation in Francis turbines, etc., with more than 0 articles included in EI/kloc-0.
At present, he is in charge of the Ministry of Education's project "Study on the performance of hydraulic turbines in sediment-laden rivers and development of their software packages" and the provincial outstanding youth fund project "Study on hydraulic excitation characteristics of hydraulic turbines" and so on 10.
In recent years, he has been invited to some key universities, technology companies and hydropower stations in Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Canada and other countries for academic visits and exchanges. More than 30 master students have been trained.
