Jiangxi Normal University is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government. It is a basic capacity-building engineering university among universities in the central and western regions, and has been identified as a provincial-level key (normal) university with key development by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government. The school is located in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. At present, the motto of Party Secretary and President Mei is "Calm down and be down to earth in China".

As of May 2022, the school has two campuses, Yaohu and Qingshan Lake, covering an area of more than 3,500 mu, with a construction area of more than 65,438 +0.4 million square meters and 2,779 faculty members (including personnel agents). There are 22 professional colleges, 3 industrial colleges (co-founded), 1 independent college (institute of technology) and 90 undergraduate majors.

Chemistry, materials science, engineering and agricultural science are the top 1% disciplines in ESI world, with 13 doctoral degree authorization points, 5 postdoctoral mobile workstations, 33 first-class discipline master degree authorization points and 18 master degree authorization points. The school originated from Lushan Bailudong Academy. 1940 was founded as National Chung Cheng University, and 1949 was renamed as National Nanchang University.

1953 after the adjustment of the department, the part that stayed in Jiangxi was changed to Jiangxi Normal University, and 1983 was renamed Jiangxi Normal University. In 2003, Jiangxi Financial Workers College (Jiangxi Bank School) was merged into the school. By the end of 2022, Jiangxi Normal University ranked 1 18 in China University of Soft Science in 2022.
