(Smedley (1890- 1950), a famous American progressive female writer. During the period of 1928, Smedley came to work in China as a special correspondent of Frankfurt Daily and actively participated in the progressive cultural movement in China. He has close contacts with cultural celebrities such as Lu Xun and Mao Dun, and is deeply influenced by their progressive thoughts.
