This is the conclusion reached when the United States studied Japan after the war. Before World War II, Japan was considered a civilized country. Americans have a good impression of the Japanese. The Japanese are modest and polite. They always apologize.

But in the war, there are such horrible things as eating American pilots. America is very curious about what kind of country Japan is.
