Chen Guochan is known as "another outstanding Gao Hu performer after Yu Qiwei". Gao Hu, a young teacher of Xinghai Conservatory of Music, 1963, a native of Taishan, Guangdong. Now he is a lecturer of Xinghai Conservatory of Music, a member of Guangdong Musicians Association, and a guest performer of Macau Chinese Orchestra 1987 won the first prize of the National Guangdong Music Invitational Tournament.

Chen was born in Taishan, a prosperous hometown of silk and bamboo in Guangdong. He studied folk music since he was a child. At the age of 65,438+05, he studied Gao Hu with Huang Risheng and became a classmate with Yu Qiwei. Although he comes from the same school, he and his brother Yu Qiwei have different styles of playing. With his superb skills and unique understanding of Cantonese music, he has won many prizes in provincial and municipal Gao Hu competitions, and has been invited to perform at home and abroad and in Hongkong. Chen Guochan's music is gorgeous, mellow and delicate. What's more commendable is that he always shows his love for life with emotion and in the smooth and beautiful melody. He can not only play the traditional classical music "Birds in the Woods" and "Bell in the Temple" with ease, but also absorb the essence from foreign works for his own use. A Bing's erhu solo "Song Ting" and violin piece "Children's Dance" can both be interpreted in a different style through the bowstring made in Chen Guo.
