The Poor Man is a short story written by Russian writer Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy. Mainly describes a stormy night, Sang Na anxiously waiting for her husband to return from fishing. Sang Na went to see Simon, his sick neighbor, and found that Simon was dead, so he took the children home. When the fisherman came back from the sea, he heard that Simon was dead and offered to adopt Simon's child. The work shows the noble quality of fishermen's couples who would rather suffer for themselves than help their neighbors.

Lev tolstoy was a Russian writer, thinker and philosopher in the middle of19th century. Born into a noble family, 1847 dropped out of school and returned to his hometown, trying to reform serfdom in his own territory. 185 1- 1854, served in the Caucasian army and started writing. After retiring, he entered the literary world and created many works such as War and Peace, anna karenine and Resurrection.
