The Origin of Jia Wei Cold Rice Noodles
It is said that the cold skin of the Wei family originated from the Qin Shihuang period, when there was a drought in Qin Zhen, Huxian County, Shaanxi Province, and nothing grew in the field, so farmers could not pay tribute to the court. Government officials ignored it and forced farmers to pay tribute to rice every day. A farmer named Li Shier came up with an idea. He ground rice into flour, steamed it into skin and presented it to Qin Shihuang. After Qin Shihuang tasted it, he felt that the dough was not only fresh and smooth, but also had a good taste. Shi Li-er was rewarded immediately. He was asked to pay tribute to the palace every day, and he was also exempted from paying the rice fee for all people for one year. This is the predecessor of cold rice noodles and the past of Wei's cold rice noodles.
