Later, he obtained master's and doctor's degrees in history from Tianjin Normal University and Nankai University. 199 1 promoted to associate professor, 1995 promoted to professor. In the same year, he was employed as an adjunct professor at the Institute of World Medieval History of Northeast Normal University, and successively supervised doctoral students in Northeast Normal University and Tianjin Normal University, and guided dozens of master's and doctoral students in the fields of British history, British economic and social history, world medieval history and historical theory. At present, he is the president of the School of History and Culture of Tianjin Normal University, the president of the Institute of European Civilization, the deputy director of the Academic Committee of Tianjin Normal University, the vice chairman of the Academic Degree Committee of Tianjin Normal University, and the distinguished professor of Nanjing University. He is also a member of the evaluation team of history discipline of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, an evaluation expert of the National Social Science Fund, the president of the World Society of Ancient Medieval History in China, and the vice president of the British Historical Society in China; He is also an academic member of the World Modern History Research Base of Nankai University of the Ministry of Education, and an editorial board member of magazines and publications such as World History and Shanghai Sanlian Humanities Classic Stack. He was the first convener of the "Expert Group on Revision of Compulsory Education History Curriculum Standards" of the Ministry of Education (2007-20 10).
