After careful investigation and evidence collection, Nanjing Public Security Bureau decided not to pursue Zhiqiang Chi's criminal responsibility, and wrote to Changying Factory for internal handling. However, with the publication of "Stars on the Screen, Criminals in Life", the Zhiqiang Chi incident caused an uproar in the whole country. After the article was published, the Nanjing Public Security Bureau protested against the false reports of two journalists in the article. However, because this article caused public outrage all over the country, the Nanjing Public Security Bureau had to redefine Zhiqiang Chi. On May 24th, 1984, the Nanjing Intermediate People's Court sentenced Zhiqiang Chi to four years' imprisonment for hooliganism.
Now it seems that Zhiqiang Chi does not constitute a crime, and now the criminal law has abolished the crime of hooliganism, which also belongs to the social background at that time and is a period of history.
