Liu Lei's main deeds
After six years of silence, Liu Lei has grown from a young college graduate to a deputy stationmaster of the reserve. He integrated the protection of Ying Ge Ridge into his life and heart, and turned it into his own career.

After graduating from college, Liu Lei gave up his superior unit and resolutely came to work in Ying Ge Ridge Provincial Nature Reserve. As a northerner, Liu Lei is very uncomfortable with Hainan's language environment, eating habits and climatic conditions, but he insists on choosing the protection work with arduous tasks, difficult conditions and strong comprehensiveness. Shortly after he started working, Liu Lei encountered three difficulties: First, it was difficult to climb mountains. Every time I patrol the mountain, I always fall several times. When I go down the mountain, I'm always black and blue. His parents wanted to see him several times, but he refused because they were worried that their parents would be sad when they saw him. The second is management and protection. For him, it is a test to do a good job in the management and protection of 500 square kilometers of protected areas and more than 200 managers. In the winter of 2007, he was elected as the leader of the evaluation team. It's cold in the mountainous area, especially when he rode his motorcycle to the village in the early morning. His hands and feet are cold, his hair and eyebrows are dripping, and he is shaking all over. However, he successfully completed the performance appraisal of 4 districts, about 380,000 mu of forest land and 102 forest management personnel. In a few years, he lived in the mountains with his sleeping bag on his back and completed the investigation of 34 fixed plots of plants. Participate in the formulation of 10 and other management systems, such as the provisions on disciplinary action of full-time management and protection personnel; We helped Ying Ge Ridge establish a systematic and complete image system, built three large-scale publicity boards and 22 warning signs for ecological public welfare forests, and participated in the production and burial of 12 boundary markers and 132 boundary markers. The third is coordination. There are five cities and counties around the reserve, with 1.8 million Li Miao people. Customs and habits are very different from those of the Han nationality. To do a good job of coordination, we must integrate into local customs and habits. He often visited the local people to understand their real thoughts on forest protection. He completed the signing of the agreement on co-management of collective land and natural forest in the village committee of Mao Xiaozu, obtained the collective land use right of 400 square meters in the village, and coordinated and resolved the woodland dispute with individual farmers.

Due to heavy work, his left eye is basically blind. In June 2009, the hospital in Beijing called him and told him that he had a donor and urged him to have an operation. He put it off again and again because of too much work at hand. Later, under the repeated urging of the station leader, he bought a plane ticket for the operation. Not long after the operation, his eyes were often red and swollen, so he quietly returned to work in Hainan with illness and successfully completed the overall image publicity design and picket training of the reserve. Since then, every time he patrols, he has to bring a bag containing ice cubes and eye drops to cope with eye discomfort at any time.
