What was Zhou Wang's original name?
Original name: Zishou.

Di Xin (about 65438 BC+065438 BC+005 BC-65438 BC+0046 BC) was born in (now Qixian County, Henan Province), the youngest son of Di Yi, the last monarch of Shang Dynasty, and was called Yin He in history. The Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties Dating Project determined that the ruling time of Di Xin was BC 1075-BC 1046. ?

Di Xin is brilliant. He has a keen sense of smell and talent. After he acceded to the throne, he attached great importance to territorial expansion, sent troops to attack Dongyi tribe, obtained a large number of prisoners, and extended the influence of Shang Dynasty to the Yangtze River basin.

However, he was headstrong, resulting in contradictions within the ruling group and long-term conquest of Dongyi, which led to the emptiness of domestic forces. BC 1046, in the battle of Makino, Zhou Wuwang led the allied forces to defeat the Shang army. When Di Xin saw that the tide was gone, he hid in Lutai (now Hebi, Henan Province) and set himself on fire, and the Shang Dynasty perished.

In the narrative of traditional historiography, Di Xin is a typical tyrant who indulges in debauchery, arrogance and forbearance, and finally turns his back on his relatives, subjugates his country and exterminates his species. Related allusions include the punishment of wine pool meat forest, firecrackers and chicken beating. But later generations also have different views on this.

Punishment of cauterization:

According to Xun Bing, there was a "branding punishment". "Historical Records Yin Benji" records that Di Xin set up a "penalty cannon". Later generations have different views on the specific way of this punishment.

It is said that paste was smeared on the erected copper column, and charcoal fire was burning under it, forcing people to walk on the copper column, and their feet were hot and slippery, and people fell into the charcoal fire and burned to death; Or force people to burn alive with red-hot copper pillars.

Biography of Women holds this view and claims that this is Shang Zhouwang's way to please da ji. Zou's Notes on Historical Records holds that the punishment is to put charcoal fire under a copper net and let prisoners walk on the internet.
