What the Hui people remember most is the reconstruction in the 12th year of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty (1499). At that time, Zhang zhen, a native of Pingdu, Shandong Province, came to Huizhou as the magistrate. As soon as he took office, he was resolute, promoted the advantages and eliminated the disadvantages, and did everything he could to win the trust of Huizhou people with a good public image. He is expected to rebuild Yuliangba. Although he arrived soon, he still worked tirelessly to investigate and study with his deputy and fellow intellectual Ye Li, calling on Huizhou people to rebuild and turn harm into benefit. Because the county magistrate himself changed the inspectors, the project progressed rapidly. Finally, the dam was repaired in a short time. On the day of completion, residents of four townships and eight towns in Huizhou gathered in Yu Liang to cheer for this great event that had not been done for hundreds of years, and it was quickly done in the hands of this good magistrate.
Everyone raised funds to erect a monument, praising him as "the sky is above and people are below". Zhang zhen's name is as immortal as the dam. According to the historical records, Zhang zhen was a scholar, and once served as a magistrate to supervise the imperial censor and Fengyang. In the eleventh year of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty (1498), 1 17, he came to Huizhou to take up his new job. 13 On August 25th, he left his job because of his father's death, and only served as the magistrate in Huizhou for one year, nine months and eight days. He is a beneficiary of the government, both the parents and the public servants of the people. In contrast, Huizhou bureaucrats who are vegetarian in ancient and modern times should be ashamed!
